The United States sent 500 000 vaccines of Pfizer as a gift to Georgia. Joe Biden believes that Georgia stays friendly to western principles and stands with the USA against injustice. The USA president signed the document sending 500 million doses of vaccines to US-friendly countries in 2 years. Georgians were first to receive half a million doses of Pfizer.

On Saturday night, at 12 PM, an airplane from the USA delivered a significant gift to the Georgian nation. The Prime minister, minister of health and other officials of the country, was first to express gratitude for vaccines. Georgian officials found it tough to pre-order vaccines from Pfizer. The lengthy negotiations ended with 100 000 vaccines but in 1 year. Georgia could secure more than 1 000 000 vaccines from China. Sinopharm and Sinovac were the only vaccines for Georgian residents in the last few months. Georgia received the first batch of 15 000 vaccines from Pfizer one month ago. It was not enough because of the rate of vaccination. The rate of vaccination is very low in-country.

200 000 registered for Pfizer

More than 200 000 residents were registered for this vaccine. The director of NCDC was happy with the results. Amiran Gamkrelidze noted that Georgians believed in Pfizer effectiveness, and they got a chance to jab with the favorite vaccine. Officials of the country announced the digital registration for the vaccine in the morning. In just six hours, more than 200 000 residents registered for Pfizer.

The current situation in Georgia

According to the official data, around 400 000 residents got a vaccine in the last five months. Two hundred fifty thousand residents will get vaccines in the next three weeks. In the mid of August, officials of the country want to have 700 000 double-jab vaccinated residents. There is a covid-19 crisis still going strong in Georgia. The officials started talking about the lockdowns, but businesses can’t take another ‘stop’ sign. Pfizer vaccines will help the country to avoid lockdown and keep going like before.

In early June, Joe Biden announced the historic decision. The President of the country said that the USA has to play a historical part in the war against covid-19. Joe Biden noted that the country would donate more than 500 million doses of Pfizer to lower-income countries. The President said that vaccines would be sent only to friendly countries of the  USA. Georgia was the first to get a significant donation from Joe Biden’s administration.
